G-TECH/Pro EGS RPM (Tach) Problem

Postby just_Joe on Thu Apr 15, 2010 9:47 pm

Hi, from the new guy on the block. I just finished installing my G-TECH/Pro EGS and cannot get it to indicate correct RPM. My car has a 460 ford engine with a mallory unilite distributor and a pro-master coil. I connected the EGS signal wire to the negative side of my coil, same as the old mallory tach was connection to. My EGS reads 500 RPM before starting the engine and after starting with the engine at a normal idle speed it reads over 5000 RPM it goes smoothly higher above 5000 when accelerating. Have tried all RPM calibration options without help. This is a new EGS unit. Any help would be much appreciated.

It will always say 500 rpm when engine is off, but it sound like you are getting some extra RF noise.
