How to make PASS software work in Window 7

This is simple there are three ways.

1. Advanced users
Right click on the Pass icon
Click on properties
Click on Compatibility
Then select the setting you need, or open the drop down box under “run this program in compatibility mode” and select “Window XP (service pack 2)”
Then click on apply
Then click on ok and the setting are saved.

2. Open up the “Program Compatibility troubleshooter”
Or
3. Open Windows help.
a) Type in “how do I run older programs”
This will pull up a list of options;
b) Choose the one that says, “Click here to open the Program Compatibility troubleshooter”
c) When the program opens click next
It will scan your computer and pull up a list of programs,
d) Scroll down to “GTech Pass” highlight it and click next.
e) At the next screen select “trouble shoot program” and click next
At the next screen titled “what Problems do you notice” select the top box titled
f) “The program worked in earlier versions of windows but won’t install or run now” then clicks next.
At this next screen, select
g) “Windows XP (Service Pack 2)” click next.

h) You will be asked to open the program to test it, after the program opens select the correct com port (leave the speed alone, it is set to the highest setting by default) then select download and the program will now communicate with your device.

At this point, save you download and close the program.
Go back to the troubleshooter and save your new program setting so that each time you open your pass software it will work.
JUST remember you will always need to the Pass software what comport to use.

If you don’t know how to find your com port setting in Windows 7 its easy.
1. Open your start menu
2. Open your control panel
3. Open Devices and Printers
4. You should see a list of all your devices and printers look for the one that shows the com port, if you have more then one go by the name. It should be listed under “unspecified category”
5. This should only take a total of 15 minutes max.
Follow these destructions and you can open and run your pass software. Just rememebr you will still need to tell the pass software what com port to use each time you open a new session. What can I say.
Good luck
